How to take backup of Windows and types of backup can be taken

There are many ways to take backup of windows but here we will discuss two ways which feature is given by windows and it's very powerful and usable. 1) Create System Image and and 2) Create System Restore Point.

Create System Image vs System Restore Point:

  • System image able to take backup of complete drive which you will select. It can take backup with all applications and data, But when you choose to create a System Restore point it takes backup only your applications which currently installed in your windows. It creates a replica of your applications but sometimes this tool is unable to restore your all applications. So I will prefer to use a system image to take a backup of windows.

1) Create System Image :

  • Go to control panal        Back and Restore        Create System Image
  • Now Select your drive where you want to save you backup image and click Next.
  • Now check the drive which you want to take backup and next.
  • Now click start backup.

Recover data from system image

  • Go to control panal        Back and Restore        Recover system setting or your computer.
    In windows 10 - Select another backup to restore files from
  • Then Advenced recovery mathods        Use System image you created earlier to recover your computer.
  • Then Select backup now and choose the drive where you want to restore your backup.
  • Then let windows choose (recommended)        Save setting and run backup.

  • If windows not starting and you have taken backup in other drive or in pendrive you can restore backup easily.
  • Here you will be needed a windows bootable disk or pendrive. All steps are mentioned bellow :
  • Boot your windows disk and go to repair option.
  • Now you can choose System Image Recovery option.
  • Here your last created system Image will be automatically selected.
  • Click Next and finish

2) Create System Restore Point.

  • Go to control panal        System        System Protection
  • Now turn on that drive which you want to create restore point        Click configure to turn on.
  • Then Click to create and give a name which you want.

  • If you want to recover the point click        System        System Protection
  • Now you click to System Restore        Select the restore point you have created allready.
  • Then click Next and finish

  • If windows not starting and you have early created a restore point then you can restore backup easily.
